From September 2 to 4, 2026, a series of seminars on energy efficiency and sustainable development of the construction sector was held in Ashgabat. The events were organized within a joint UNDP and GEF project aimed at improving the regulatory framework and developing energy-efficient construction in Turkmenistan, in partnership with the country’s Ministry of Environmental Protection.

The seminars, held at the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering, brought together university faculty and students. Participants explored modern approaches to the design and construction of nearly zero-energy buildings, requirements for obtaining international “Green Certificates”, and opportunities to apply energy-efficient technologies taking into account Turkmenistan’s climatic conditions.

An important event was the opening ceremony of the Institute’s new building complex, held on September 1. As part of the ceremony, the Institute received six international “Green Certificates”, confirming that the complex meets modern environmental and energy-efficiency standards.

The development of energy-efficient construction contributes to the introduction of modern technologies, higher environmental standards, and the formation of a sustainable construction sector in Turkmenistan.
