Turkmenistan and the United States Outline New Areas of Cooperation

Turkmenistan and the United States discussed expanding bilateral cooperation during a meeting between Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and US Ambassador to Ashgabat Elizabeth Rood. The talks focused on political and diplomatic dialogue, trade and economic relations, and humanitarian cooperation, as well as the effectiveness of existing mechanisms such as annual political consultations and the Turkmenistan–US Business Council. Particular attention was drawn to the long-standing and successful operations of American companies in Turkmenistan, including John Deere, General Electric and Boeing, which are implementing projects in the energy, agriculture and transport sectors.

Looking ahead, the sides also explored new formats of cooperation with an emphasis on education, science, culture and high technologies, alongside opportunities to deepen engagement in the banking and financial sector, including an initiative to establish a Turkmen–American cultural dialogue.
