The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) intends to expand its investment activities in Turkmenistan, focusing on supporting the private sector, developing transport and logistics infrastructure, and attracting international capital.
As Eric Livny, Head of the EBRD Resident Office in Turkmenistan, stated in an interview with Trend news agency, the Bank is considering resuming direct financing for private export-oriented companies, as well as expanding lending to small and medium-sized enterprises through local commercial banks.
Promising areas for investment include manufacturing, agribusiness, logistics, export-oriented services, and the modernization of railway infrastructure, including projects within the framework of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor. The EBRD is also exploring opportunities for cooperation in renewable energy, energy efficiency, water supply, and waste management.
