Armenia outlines areas of economic cooperation with Turkmenistan

Armenia’s Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan outlined promising areas for expanding economic cooperation with Turkmenistan during his visit to Ashgabat. These include industry, agriculture and food processing, transport and logistics, digital solutions and tourism.

On October 1st, Speaking at the Turkmenistan Investment Forum, the minister highlighted the complementary nature of the two countries’ economies and stressed Yerevan’s interest in developing new investment and trade projects.

Papoyan paid particular attention to transport connectivity. According to the minister, Armenia’s “Crossroads of Peace” initiative, including the TRIPP project, could create additional transit opportunities for Central Asian and Caspian countries towards Türkiye and Europe, as well as provide a connection to the North–South Corridor via Iran.

Papoyan also presented Armenia’s investment opportunities, including access to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) market, cooperation with European partners, and a developed technology sector. According to him, the country is working to improve the business environment, reduce licensing timelines, and establish modern industrial zones.
