In 2025, Turkmenistan’s trade turnover with the member states of the UN Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) exceeded $2.2 billion, marking a 15% increase compared to 2024. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan Babanyyaz Yalakow at the SPECA Economic Forum in Ashgabat. The share of regional countries in Turkmenistan’s overall foreign trade rose to 11%, up from 9.6% a year earlier.

The growth was driven by measures aimed at developing mutually beneficial transport routes and reducing trade barriers under the SPECA Work Plan for 2024–2025. According to the Ministry of Finance, this positive trend provides a solid foundation for further expansion of trade and enhanced transport connectivity across the region.
