Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Attends ECO Summit in Azerbaijan

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov has arrived in the city of Fuzuli to take part in the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), held July 3–4 in Khankendi, Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan’s APA news agency reported on Thursday.

The main theme of the summit is “ECO’s New Vision for a Reliable and Climate-Resilient Future.” During the sessions, representatives of member states are expected to discuss key issues on the agenda, including climate change mitigation measures undertaken by countries in the region.

The Economic Cooperation Organization, established in 1985, brings together ten member states: Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan. The organization focuses on expanding cooperation in trade, transportation, energy, and tourism. Its headquarters is located in Tehran.
