Turkmenistan plans to build several new highways in the coming years, including the Turkmenabat–Gazojak–Dashoguz, Mary–Serhetabat and Gumdag–Etrek–Iran border routes. The announcement was made by Dowran Atayev, deputy chairman of the State Agency for Road Construction Management, during the Turkmenistan Investment Forum (TIF 2025) on Friday in the Avaza National Tourist Zone.

Atayev also noted that construction is underway on a road bridge across the Garabogazköl Gulf, which will be part of the new Turkmenbashy–Garabogaz–Kazakhstan border route. He added that work on the segment from Garabogaz to the Kazakh border has been progressing at an accelerated pace since 2024.

The deputy chairman emphasized that all of the projects are intended to integrate Turkmenistan's transport infrastructure into the global logistics network. The new highways are expected to provide a reliable transit route for freight shipments from Russia, Kazakhstan, Iran and India to Northern and Western Europe.

Construction is being carried out using state-of-the-art equipment from leading global manufacturers, including XCMG (China), John Deere (Germany) and Ammann (Switzerland).

The State Agency for Road Construction Management, established in 2022, currently oversees more than 13,000 kilometers of roads across the country.
