Turkmenistan, Russia Foreign Ministers Discuss Key Bilateral Issues
Turkmenistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov, held a telephone conversation on August 25 with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. During the call, the two officials discussed key issues of bilateral cooperation and interaction on the international stage, Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on Monday.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining an active political dialogue, including regular contacts at the ministerial level, in line with the Cooperation Program between the two countries’ foreign ministries for 2025–2026, signed in Ashgabat earlier this year in June.
Turkmenistan and Russia maintain strong strategic relations spanning trade, economic, humanitarian, and cultural spheres.
The legal framework for bilateral cooperation includes more than 200 intergovernmental and interstate agreements, according to the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Turkmenistan.
