Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan oil transit via Baku hits 2.8 million tons

Oil transit from Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline made up 15.7% of the pipeline’s total throughput in January–August, AZERTAC reported on Friday.

Citing the State Statistics Committee, the share of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan’s transit oil amounted to 2.887 million tons.

Azerbaijani oil accounted for 84.6%, or 15.469 million tons.

During the reporting period, the total volume of oil transported through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline reached 18.365 million tons.

The 1,768-kilometer BTC pipeline carries crude oil from the Caspian Sea to the Mediterranean, starting in Baku, Azerbaijan, crossing Georgia, and terminating at the Turkish port of Ceyhan.
