Turkmenistan Introduces a Unified Register for Commercial Transport

From 8 January 2026, Turkmenistan has introduced a unified state register for vehicles used in cargo and passenger transportation. The new procedure, approved by the Ministry of Motor Transport and registered by the Ministry of Justice on 13 January, requires all vehicles engaged in commercial перевозки to be officially recorded in both electronic and paper formats.

Registration applies to both individuals and legal entities and covers passenger, freight, specialised and other vehicles. A registration certificate is issued following document review (within up to 20 days) and is mandatory for operating commercial transport services. The measure aims to streamline the transport sector, enhance regulatory transparency, and improve road safety.
