Turkmenistan and Japan continue to strengthen their bilateral cooperation, placing particular emphasis on the implementation of joint projects in the fields of high technology, sustainable development, and human capital development.

Recent consultations held in Tokyo with the President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) reaffirmed the mutual commitment of both sides to further advancing their strategic partnership and expanding practical cooperation. One of the key priorities of the bilateral agenda remains the adoption of advanced technologies and the development of clean energy solutions.

Among the priority areas are the training of Turkmen specialists in hydrogen energy in cooperation with leading Japanese educational institutions, as well as the implementation of professional development programs for public sector specialists with a focus on digital transformation, the application of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, and the development of human capital.

Special attention is also being given to strengthening trade and economic cooperation. Work is continuing on the implementation of Japan’s «One Village, One Product» initiative in Turkmenistan, which is aimed at supporting regional producers, fostering the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, and promoting value-added products.

In addition, the two sides are exploring opportunities to expand cooperation in healthcare, sustainable development, innovation, education, culture, and tourism. The implementation of new technical assistance programs and knowledge-sharing initiatives is expected to further strengthen bilateral economic ties and create new opportunities for long-term cooperation between Turkmenistan and Japan.
