Turkmenistan is actively developing rail freight transportation along the international North-South corridor, with a strong focus on transit and container logistics.

From January to November 2025, a total of 19,000 container shipments were carried out across the country, including 9,250 transit, 5,650 export, and 4,100 import consignments. This represents an increase of 9,405 containers compared to the same period in 2024.

Over the same period, 63 container trains operated along the routes Russia–Kazakhstan–Turkmenistan–Iran, Turkmenistan–Azerbaijan–Georgia–Türkiye–Europe, as well as routes to Uzbekistan, confirming Turkmenistan’s growing role as a regional transport and logistics hub.
