Turkmen Delegation Participates in Global Rail 2025 in Abu Dhabi

From September 30 to October 4, 2025, a Turkmen delegation led by Minister of Railway Transport Mammet Akmammedov visited the UAE to take part in the Global Rail 2025 exhibition and conference in Abu Dhabi. 

At the International Projects Pavilion, the Ministry presented international railway initiatives and transport design concepts. 

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry and Etihad Rail to develop joint projects and expand investment cooperation. 

In talks with Etihad Rail CEO Shadi Malak, the sides discussed next steps; he said Etihad Rail leaders plan to visit Turkmenistan in mid-October. 

Within Global Rail 2025, Minister Akmammedov met Afghanistan’s Deputy Minister of Public Works Mohammed Ishaq Sahibzade to address cargo growth and the Turgundy-Herat line, noted for its humanitarian and strategic value. 

A meeting with Abu Dhabi Development Fund Deputy Director General Rashed Mohammed Al Kaabi focused on financing opportunities. The sides discussed possible cooperation, and Mr. Al Kaabi expressed interest in supporting Turkmenistan’s future railway projects.
