The U.S. Department of State hosted a reception for the foreign ministers of the C5+1 countries.
A ceremonial reception was held at the U.S. Department of State on Wednesday with the participation of the foreign ministers of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. The event, which took place in the Benjamin Franklin Room, was one of the key highlights within the framework of the C5+1 meetings in Washington, according to the U.S. Department of State.
Opening remarks were delivered by U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations James Risch, U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor, and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
During the speeches, it was emphasized that the United States attaches particular importance to strengthening cooperation with Central Asia. The American side reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing partnerships with the countries of the region, expanding bilateral and multilateral ties, and supporting economic and investment initiatives.
The reception in Washington was an important part of a series of high-level meetings taking place ahead of the upcoming summit of Central Asian and U.S. leaders at the White House, which will mark the tenth anniversary of the C5+1 format.
Established in 2015, the C5+1 format serves as a multilateral platform for dialogue between the five Central Asian countries and the United States, focusing on issues of economic development, regional cooperation, and security.
