The Agricultural Sector of Turkmenistan Demonstrates Steady Growth
In January 2026, the volume of agricultural production in Turkmenistan increased by 9.3 per cent compared with the same period last year. This was reported by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Tangryguly Atahallyev during a government meeting.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, production growth within subordinate structures amounted to 3.9 per cent. The highest performance indicators were recorded by the State Concern “Türkmenpagta”, where output increased by 17.3 per cent. The Ministry of Environmental Protection achieved growth of 16.4 per cent, while the State Committee for Water Management reported an increase of 8.4 per cent.

The investment implementation plan in the agricultural sector was fulfilled at 107.9 per cent, reflecting the ongoing modernisation of the production base and the development of sectoral infrastructure. The growth was driven by improved production efficiency, sector upgrading and the implementation of investment projects. Seasonal agricultural activities are currently underway across the country’s regions, including crop maintenance, preparation of land and seeds for the sowing campaign, and measures aimed at developing water management infrastructure.
Further development of the agricultural sector and the expansion of investment opportunities, including private sector participation, are expected to be discussed at the International Forum on Attracting Investment into the Private Sector “Investments in the Future of Turkmenistan” (IFT 2026), which will be held on 18 March 2026 in Ashgabat.
