The President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, congratulated the participants of the Economic Forum taking place in Ashgabat as part of SPECA Week, highlighting its importance for strengthening regional cooperation and promoting the sustainable development of Central Asia. He emphasised that the forum, held in the year marking the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence and during the country’s chairmanship of SPECA in 2025, contributes to advancing joint initiatives in e-commerce, digitalisation, green growth, energy and transport connectivity, as well as the creation of an efficient regional market for goods, services and investment.

SPECA Week is being held in Ashgabat from 20 to 23 January and includes the Economic Forum and the 20th session of the SPECA Governing Council. Key discussions focus on the development of energy cooperation, including renewable energy, cross-border trade, the East–West transport corridor, digital trade and economic corridors, as well as climate, environmental and water resource management issues. The events are expected to serve as a practical platform for developing solutions to implement the SPECA Development Concept through 2030 and to further strengthen the programme’s role as a space for dialogue, trust and partnership.
