
President of Turkmenistan Welcomes China’s New Ambassador
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the new Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Turkmenistan, Ji Shumin, on Friday in Ashgabat. During the official ceremony, the diplomat presented his credentials to the head of state, according to official Turkmen media.
The Chinese ambassador expressed gratitude for the meeting and emphasized Beijing’s strong commitment to developing strategic partnership with Turkmenistan, which is undertaking extensive reforms.
He also noted China’s high regard for Ashgabat’s international initiatives, which enjoy broad support from the global community.
During the meeting, it was highlighted that Turkmenistan supports further coordination of its “Revival of the Great Silk Road” strategy alongside China’s “Belt and Road Initiative.”
At the conclusion of the meeting, Ji Shumin thanked President Berdimuhamedov for the warm reception and assured that he would make every effort to strengthen the friendly and partnership relations between the two countries.
Diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and China were established on January 6, 1992. Over more than three decades, bilateral cooperation has covered political, economic, cultural, and energy sectors.
