
President of Turkmenistan Meets with Xi Jinping in Beijing
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping on Tuesday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, according to official Turkmen media.
President Berdimuhamedov congratulated his Chinese counterpart on the successful hosting of the SCO Summit and the 80th anniversary of Victory in World War II. He noted that each meeting between the two heads of state marks a new stage in the development of bilateral relations. Turkmenistan, he said, highly values the level of strategic partnership with China and supports Beijing’s Global Governance Initiative.
The two leaders discussed prospects for cooperation in transport and logistics, including the alignment of the “Revival of the Great Silk Road” initiative with China’s “Belt and Road” strategy.
Particular attention was given to expanding cooperation in parliamentary, public, and youth diplomacy. Turkmenistan confirmed its readiness to actively engage in dialogue in these areas.
The talks also covered the expansion of trade and investment ties, promotion of industrial and agricultural cooperation, and the creation of joint ventures, including high-tech enterprises. Both sides emphasized the importance of developing transport and logistics infrastructure.
President Berdimuhamedov invited Xi Jinping to visit Ashgabat in December 2025 to participate in an international forum dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality and the International Year of Peace and Trust. President Xi accepted the invitation and reaffirmed Beijing’s strong commitment to enhancing relations with Ashgabat.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both leaders expressed confidence in the continued strengthening of cooperation for the benefit of the peoples of the two nations.
Earlier that day, President Berdimuhamedov also held talks with Ding Xuexiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and First Vice Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China.
