Package of Business Agreements with Turkmenistan Signed in Kazakhstan

25.06.26

On June 24, the Kazakhstani-Turkmen Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation held its session in Astana. Following the meeting, the parties recorded record growth in bilateral trade and signed a series of agreements in logistics, e-commerce, and construction.
Over the past five years, trade turnover between the two countries has more than doubled — reaching $530 million. Kazakhstani exports to Turkmenistan grew by nearly 50%, reaching $316.3 million, while imports of Turkmen goods increased fivefold — to $215.8 million. The positive trend continues: in January–April 2026 alone, mutual trade turnover grew by another 7%, reaching $180 million.

The meeting's agenda covered the oil and gas sector, transport logistics, agriculture, and cultural exchanges. Alongside the commission session, a joint business forum took place in Astana, bringing together around 40 Turkmen companies and more than 100 representatives of Kazakhstani business and development institutions. The Kazakhstani side presented a package of 178 non-commodity product categories with an export potential exceeding $200 million — including metallurgy, mechanical engineering, construction materials, pharmaceuticals, and food products.

The forum resulted in a number of concrete agreements:
— A Memorandum of Cooperation between JSC Trade Policy Development Centre QazTrade and the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.
— A Cooperation Agreement in the investment and construction sector between «Ashra Solutions LLP» and one of Turkmenistan's largest construction contractors, «Ojar Aziya».
— Agreements between Kazakhstan's «Silk Way Asia Trade LLP» and Turkmen partners — «Hazar Logistik» and «Gamma».

The outcomes of the Astana negotiations mark a shift in bilateral relations — from raw material trade toward industrial cooperation, digitalization, and direct alliances between major private capital on both sides.
