National AI Strategy in Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan is embarking on the development of a national strategy for artificial intelligence. The new plan will form part of the state programme for the digital economy for 2026–2028 and aims to integrate AI technologies across all sectors, from industry to services. Particular emphasis is being placed on training highly skilled specialists and continually enhancing their professional expertise.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedow highlighted that the country is actively expanding its digital infrastructure and implementing modern information technologies. The programme has already been signed and includes a series of concrete directives to accelerate the digitalisation of the economy, opening up new opportunities for innovation and technological growth.

Artificial intelligence and smart technologies will be among the central topics at the upcoming international event, IFT 2026 'Investing in the Future of Turkmenistan', scheduled for 18 March 2026 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
