Iran Plans to Increase Electricity Imports from Turkmenistan
Iran’s Ministry of Energy, in coordination with the state-owned Tavanir Company, is considering increasing electricity imports from Turkmenistan.
The matter was discussed during a meeting attended by Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi, Tavanir CEO Mostafa Rajabi Mashhadi, and member of Iran’s parliament Jamshid Ghayemmakam, Mehr news agency reported on Monday.
As a result of the meeting, Tavanir’s Department of Transmission and Foreign Trade was tasked with developing the technical and logistical measures necessary to boost imports.
Earlier, Turkmenistan and Iran held negotiations and signed an agreement under which Iranian companies will implement the construction of a section of the “Mary–Mashhad” power transmission line, running from Mary to the Iranian border.
