26.08.25
Iran plans to establish a joint border market with Turkmenistan to boost investment, North Khorasan Governor Bahman Nouri announced on Wednesday during a press conference held at the governor’s office, Mehr News Agency reports.
In March 2025, government agencies from Turkmenistan and Iran held a working group meeting to discuss the development of a trade zone along the Turkmenistan–Iran border.
The establishment of the cross-border trade area is expected to promote regional trade and strengthen economic ties between the two countries.
Turkmenistan and Iran also plan to construct two new railway lines at the Sarakhs border crossing to increase rail freight capacity.
