CIS Heads of State Summit to be Held in Avaza

The next summit of the Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States will take place on 9 October 2026 at the National Tourist Zone “Avaza”. This was announced by the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, during a telephone conversation with Valentina Matviyenko, Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation. The holding of the summit was agreed upon by the Council of CIS Heads of State and will serve as an important platform for strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations.

During the discussion, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasised Turkmenistan’s readiness, as the CIS Chair in 2026, to continue comprehensive and multifaceted cooperation with Russia, as well as to organise key events under its chairmanship, including the Women’s Dialogue, a meeting of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, and a Conference on Demographic Issues.
