On July 15th the Brest Branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a business meeting in the format of a "Business Breakfast with a Diplomat," dedicated to exploring opportunities for Belarusian companies to enter the Turkmenistan market. The event brought together around 30 representatives from various industries, with Yury Dmitrichkov, Counsellor for Trade and Economic Affairs at the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Turkmenistan, serving as the keynote speaker.
The strong participation highlights the growing interest of Belarusian manufacturers and suppliers in the Turkmen market, which continues to offer new opportunities for international trade and economic cooperation.
During the meeting, participants discussed export potential across a broad range of products and services. The sectors attracting the greatest interest included:
- Furniture;
- Processed fruit and vegetable products;
- Confectionery;
- Beverages;
- Agricultural machinery;
- Glass products;
- Compound animal feed;
- Livestock equipment;
- Engineering, design, and logistics services.
The diversity of these sectors reflects increasing interest in participating in Turkmenistan's industrial modernization, agricultural development, and infrastructure expansion projects.
In addition to export opportunities, much of the discussion focused on the practical aspects of doing business in Turkmenistan.
Participants addressed customs procedures, non-tariff requirements, logistics, international payment mechanisms, public procurement opportunities, and the specifics of working with Turkmen business partners.
Special attention was also given to business culture, national traditions, and negotiation practices. International experience consistently demonstrates that understanding the local business environment is one of the key factors in building successful long-term partnerships.
Today, Turkmenistan continues to implement large-scale government programs aimed at developing industry, agriculture, transport infrastructure, construction, and the digital economy. These initiatives are creating sustained demand for modern technologies, industrial equipment, construction materials, food products, and professional services.
For international companies, success depends not only on offering competitive products and solutions but also on understanding the country's legal framework, administrative procedures, and business culture.
The growing interest of Belarusian businesses in Turkmenistan reflects a broader trend of increasing international attention to the country's market. More foreign companies are recognizing Turkmenistan as a promising destination for exports, long-term commercial partnerships, and investment projects.
