Outcomes of the International Forum on Attracting Investment to the Private Sector – “Investing in Turkmenistan’s Private Sector” (IFT2025)

May 15, 2025

For the first time in Turkmenistan, an international forum dedicated to attracting investment into the private sector — IFT2025 — was held. The event took place in the city of Ashgabat at the Yyldyz Hotel. The forum was organized by the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with TMT Consulting Group.

IFT2025 became a vital platform for strengthening partnerships and attracting investment into Turkmenistan's private sector.
The event aimed to raise awareness among participants about Turkmenistan's investment climate. Leading international financial institutions and global organizations participated in the forum, enabling discussions on the country's economic development prospects and identifying new paths for collaboration.

In total, IFT2025 brought together over 500 participants, including delegations from various countries and leading international companies.

The business platform of the forum provided participants with a deep dive into the investment opportunities that modern Turkmenistan offers. The event gathered private sector experts who shared their business experience and perspectives on international companies’ participation in large-scale projects across fields such as information technology, tourism, chemical industry, transport, and logistics.

The forum sessions highlighted legal and financial opportunities for strengthening international cooperation. Among the key speakers was Artur Andrysiak, Director of the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) Resident Mission in Turkmenistan, who confirmed the Bank’s commitment to supporting private sector development in the country. ADB is currently implementing two major investment projects in Turkmenistan totaling $625 million, focused on the energy and transport sectors.

On the pre-forum day, participants had the opportunity to visit an exhibition dedicated to the 17th anniversary of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan. Delegations from China, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Estonia expressed their interest in participating.

As a result of the forum:

  • 187 business meetings were held,
  • 21 memorandums and framework agreements were signed, including:

• A framework agreement of understanding regarding investments in the "Serakhs-Mary-Serkhetabat" project between Ojar Aziya and M&P Holding
• A memorandum of understanding between Türkmen maslahatçylar topary and Diplomatic Club
• A cooperation agreement between Aýdyň gijeler and Informtehnika

The broad international representation confirmed the high level of interest from foreign investors. The International Forum on Attracting Investment to the Private Sector — Investing in the Future of Turkmenistan — has proven itself not only as a business platform but also as an effective instrument for real economic development, where ideas are quickly transformed into concrete projects.
