USA Lifts Some Visa Restrictions for Turkmen Citizens

22.12.25

Starting 1 January 2026, the United States will lift the previous ban on issuing non-immigrant visas (including B‑1, B‑2, B‑1/B‑2, F, M, and J categories) for citizens of Turkmenistan, according to the White House. This measure forms part of a wider presidential proclamation on restricting entry for foreign nationals based on national security considerations, signed on 16 December 2025. However, restrictions on immigrant visas for Turkmenistan's citizens remain in place.

The official statement notes that the change follows significant progress by Turkmenistan in cooperation with the US on information exchange and identity management procedures, which allowed the partial lifting of restrictions. Nevertheless, the administration maintains strict entry rules for several other countries due to ongoing security risk assessments.
