Turkmenistan to implement major water management projects in 2026

Turkmenistan plans to implement a number of major water management and land reclamation projects in 2026.

Priority initiatives include the construction of collector-drainage networks linked to Lake Altyn Asyr, the building of a reservoir with a capacity of 90 million cubic metres, and the modernisation of irrigation systems across all velayats of the country.

In the agricultural sector, projects will also include the installation of waterproof lining in the Dashoguz velayat, the reconstruction of the Shasenem collector, and work to increase the capacity of the Karakum River.

The projects aim to improve the meliorative condition of irrigated land and enhance agricultural productivity through the introduction of modern and water-saving technologies.
