Turkmenistan Cabinet of Ministers Reviews Q1 2026 Results
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov chaired a digital Cabinet of Ministers meeting, reviewing the results of all economic sectors and government bodies for January–March 2026.
The President positively assessed the quarter's results and congratulated attendees on the upcoming World Health Day (April 7), emphasizing the importance of a healthy lifestyle for the country's citizens.
Turkmenistan Economy Records Steady Growth in Q1 2026
The headline result of the quarter was GDP growth of 6.3%. The fastest-growing sectors were transport and communications (+10.3%), trade (+8.3%), and services (+8.3%). Total production output rose by 10.4%, retail turnover increased by 10.4%, and foreign trade turnover grew by 3.7%. The state budget revenue plan was fulfilled at 102.3%.
The state concern Türkmennebit fulfilled its oil production plan at 106.9%. Gasoline output reached 119% of the target, liquefied gas production hit 126.7%, and natural and associated gas extraction came in at 107.5% — underscoring Turkmenistan's strong position as a key energy producer in Central Asia.
Agricultural sector output grew by 106% year-on-year. The construction and industrial complex fulfilled its plan at 128.2%, while Türkmenhimiýa concern achieved 152.7% of its target. The transport and communications sector posted a services growth rate of 114.1%.
Turkmenistan Pursues Active Foreign Policy Agenda
Over the three-month period, 158 foreign delegations visited the country, while 265 Turkmen delegations traveled abroad. High-level political consultations were held with the foreign ministers of Austria, the UAE, the United Kingdom, and China. The country's treaty and legal framework was expanded with 30 new international documents. The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq officially opened in Ashgabat.
Science, Education and Sport: Record International Results
Turkmen school children and university students won 410 medals at international Olympiads, while athletes claimed 123 medals at international competitions. The government approved the National Strategy for the Development of Scientific and Medical Diplomacy for 2026–2052, setting long-term priorities for Turkmenistan's global academic and healthcare engagement.
