Turkmenistan as a Key Link in the China–Europe Corridor

Uzbekistan and Tajikistan are launching a pilot freight operation along the China–Central Asia–Europe multimodal corridor, in which Turkmenistan plays a strategic role. As part of the trial, a convoy of 10 fully loaded trucks will travel on the Uzbekistan–Tajikistan–China route, testing the readiness of infrastructure and logistical coordination across the corridor.

Although the pilot focuses on the eastern section, the long-term development of the route is directly linked to Turkmenistan, which provides the crucial transit gateway to Iran, Türkiye and European markets. The results of the test will form the basis for scaling up cargo flows and activating the Turkmen segment, reinforcing the country’s position as a key transit hub along the Asia–Europe axis.
