President Serdar Berdimuhamedov Lays Foundation of New Settlement in Mary Province
On April 8, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov made a working visit to Mary Province (velayat), where he took part in the ceremonial foundation-laying of a new modern settlement. This project, being implemented on the territory of the Ymambaba gengeshlik of the Yolotan etrap, will mark another stage in the large-scale transformations aimed at ensuring the well-being of the country's rural population.
The new settlement is not merely a housing development, but a fully self-contained urban environment in a rural setting. The project is impressive in its scale: the construction area covers over 800 hectares, the housing stock includes 4,500 comfortable homes designed to accommodate more than 22,500 residents.
In developing the project, the Ministry of Construction and Architecture of Turkmenistan provided for the creation of a full range of social and utility infrastructure. The new settlement will feature administrative buildings, secondary schools and kindergartens equipped to modern standards, health centers, a community center, a mosque, and modern engineering networks and communications.
The President noted that the development of Mary Province is not limited to housing construction alone. The region is demonstrating strong industrial growth, and within the coming days, another historically significant project will be launched — the start of the fourth phase of development of the Galkynysh gas field.
