President of Turkmenistan Receives Special WHO Award
On 16 February, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with the Director of the European Regional Office of the World Health Organization, Hans Kluge. During the talks, the Head of State was presented with a special award titled “For Contribution to the Promotion of Peace, Unity and Diplomacy in Healthcare”.
The award recognises Turkmenistan’s efforts in advancing medical diplomacy and strengthening international cooperation in the field of public health. Congratulations were also extended on the country’s chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2026, which is being held under the theme of health protection.
As part of his visit to Ashgabat, Hans Kluge took part in a High-Level Dialogue on Global Health Diplomacy. According to the President, the forum will serve as a platform for exchanging experience and expanding partnerships aimed at enhancing the resilience of healthcare systems to contemporary global challenges.
