Modernisation and Sustainable Development of Maritime Transport

On 3 March 2026, a meeting was held at the Turkmenbashi International Seaport between representatives of the Turkmenistan Agency for Maritime and River Transport and the UNDP Resident Representative in Turkmenistan, Narine Saakyan.

The discussions focused on opportunities to modernise the port within the framework of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor and the implementation of digital systems, including improvements to the Terminal Operating System and the “Maritime Single Window” system. Attention was also given to the port’s environmental standards (ISO-14001, “Ecoport”) and proposals for their further enhancement.

The initiatives will be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers, and cooperation in the fields of digitalisation and environmental protection is planned to be taken to a new level.
