Ministry of Communications of Turkmenistan Develops National AI Strategy

The Ministry of Communications of Turkmenistan has begun developing a National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence, aimed at integrating AI into key sectors of the economy as part of the 2026–2028 State Programme for Digital Transformation.

From 5 to 6 March, a seminar titled “National AI Strategy: Developing Joint Solutions for Sustainable Development” is taking place in Ashgabat, organised by the Ministry of Communications in collaboration with UNDP. The event brings together international experts, government representatives, academics, and members of the private sector.

The strategy will focus on four key pillars: infrastructure and data, digital skills, ethical standards, and digital government services. It is intended as a logical continuation of Turkmenistan’s Digital Economy Concept and will ensure the safe and effective implementation of AI across the country.
