Japan to Host December Summit with Central Asian Leaders

Japan is preparing to host a major summit with the leaders of the five Central Asian states on 19-20 December in Tokyo.

The plans were outlined by Taro Aso, Vice-President of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, during a meeting of the Japan –Central Asia Friendship League.

Tokyo is also considering arranging bilateral talks between Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and the heads of state attending the summit.

Launched in 2004, the “Central Asia + Japan” dialogue remains a key platform for Japan’s cooperation with Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
