On 16 February 2026, Tashkent hosted a meeting between Uzbekistan’s First Deputy Minister of Transport, Mamanbiy Omarov, and an Omani delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Transport, Khamis Al-Shammakhi.

According to the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan, the parties reviewed prospects for expanding cooperation within the framework of the “Uzbekistan–Turkmenistan–Iran–Oman” transport corridor project, implemented under the Ashgabat Agreement. The talks took place on Monday in Tashkent.

The project aims to establish a sustainable transport and transit route linking Central Asian countries with the Gulf states. Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Iran, India, Pakistan and Oman are participating in the initiative.

The agreement also provides for strengthening transport connectivity across the Eurasian region and coordinating with other international routes, including the North–South Corridor.
