Ashgabat Railway Alliance Strengthens Regional Logistics

13.02.26

A meeting of the heads of railway authorities from Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Georgia was held in Ashgabat. A protocol was signed to establish a unified logistics operator along the Central Asia–Europe route via the Caspian and Black Seas.

The protocol outlines increased freight volumes in 2026, digital monitoring, solutions for vacant wagons, and the introduction of unified tariffs. The creation of a joint venture and Turkmenistan’s accession to the Eurasian ETR Association were also discussed to further integrate the country’s transport system.

The cooperation of the four countries’ railways creates synergy rather than competition, reinforcing Turkmenistan’s status as a regional transport hub for European-bound cargo.
