Ashgabat Hosts “Young Engineer 2026” Competition
An engineering and technology competition, “Young Engineer 2026,” was held on April 25 in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, at the Ojar Aziya building.
The event was organized by the Main Department of Education of Ashgabat under the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, the Ashgabat City Council of the Magtymguly Youth Organization, and the Ashgabat City Committee of the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, with general support from Ojar Aziya, TMT Consulting Group, and Amatly Çözgüt.
Around 200 school students from across the country took part in the competition. More than 60 projects were showcased, with a strong emphasis on solutions in industrial automation.
The competition featured four categories. In “Smart Production and Service Technologies,” students in grades 7–12 presented their own innovative projects, including team entries of up to two participants. The “Robotics” category involved individual participation, where robots were tasked with collecting balls and sorting them into containers of varying heights within 2.5 minutes. In the “Girls Who Code” category, students in grade 8 and below developed Scratch-based projects in the form of games, animations, or practical applications. The “Battle Bots” category—robot combat matches—was open to participants of all ages.
The Robotics and Battle Bots categories drew particular attention, as their winners earned the right to represent Turkmenistan at the FIRST Global Challenge 2026, an international robotics competition to be held in Incheon, Republic of Korea.
The championship will take place from October 7 to 10, 2026, bringing together national teams from more than 190 countries. Held under the theme “Igniting Innovation,” the event will focus on addressing global challenges through STEM.
Winners of the “Young Engineer 2026” competition in each category were awarded certificates of honor from the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, along with valuable prizes from the organizers and the general sponsor, Ojar Aziya.
