Ashgabat and Baku Strengthen Political and Economic Partnership

Interministerial consultations between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan were held in Baku, covering a wide range of bilateral and international issues, the Turkmen Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports.

The delegations were led by Ahmet Gurbanov, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, and Samir Sharifov, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan. The sides focused on developing political and diplomatic dialogue, trade and economic cooperation, engagement in transport, logistics and energy sectors, as well as strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties.

The importance of high-level meetings and the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was emphasized. The strategic role of both countries as a transit link between Asia and Europe was noted.

Following the consultations, the parties confirmed their readiness to further deepen partnership and continue constructive dialogue.
